The Cert III in Business course is run in a classroom setting, no homework, nothing online, and in a friendly, supportive, and FUN environment.  The trainer is Lynn Arnold, from Lynn Arnold Training and Support.  Lynn has over 40 years’ experience in admin, and has trained for over 10 years of that.  Assessments are completed in class, together, allowing participants to share their experiences with others.  A Certificate III in Business is not about running a business, it is all about working in a business environment.  Click here to see what training modules this covers.

Lynn will also create a professional resume and cover letter for participants, and we’ll discuss current workplace expectations and interview techniques, Word documents and Excel.

Playgroup is a safe place to form friendships with local parents, carers, and grandparents. It is also a great way for children to socialise and develop early skills.  Every Wednesday playgroup is facilitated by Channon from Mission Australia who organises activities around childhood development eg. literacy, fine motor skills.

Across the next term Ipswich Library is bringing First 5 Forever to Providence Mummy’s Playgroup!

First 5 Forever is a literacy initiative delivered by public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres with the primary aim of providing strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children aged 0-5 years.

Come and join the Arts, Craft and Sewing in the Ripley Valley group for a fun night of crochet and community spirit.

Our group is currently working on a community care project aimed at making blankets to gift to people who live in our community to show that the Providence community cares.

The focus of our get-togethers for the next few events is to make the blankets but anyone is more than welcome to bring along your own project or just join us for some company and make new friends.

If you’d like to support us with our project, there are several ways you can help.

1. Join us on the last Friday of each month (until September) at 6.30pm, BYO size 5 needle and 8ply (or equivalent) yarn. Don’t have your own equipment or supplies? Don’t worry, we’ll have hooks and yarn available. We will have right handed and left handed volunteer teachers too.
3. If you already know how to crochet or knit we would love your company and if you are feeling confident, you might like to volunteer to teach and help others to learn.
2. If you can’t make any of the nights you can donate granny squares or wool to the Providence Community Centre 7 days between 10am and 5pm. Make with a size 5 hook/needle, and 8ply yarn (or equivalent). The plan is to crochet 6 rounds, to measure approx.17.5 cm x 17.5 cm finished.
4. You can nominate a local person who is doing it a bit tough and who would appreciate the warmth of a community blanket made with love. (A bit like us giving a big community hug).

Children (under supervision) are welcome to come along but please be mindful that there are no child minding or entertainment facilities provided on the night.
